Book Purchasing

Provide the ISBN or author and title, and we'll mail you the current price, the ISBN, and the vendor's description. Quotes are for "New, Mass Market Paperback" (cheapest format) unless you say otherwise.

Don't know what's out there? Ask for a general topic — "werewolf fantasy" books, "hiking" magazines, "college-ruled notebooks" — and we'll return two page sides of products, descriptions, and current prices.

We can research and purchase other institution-approved items too: notebooks, shoes, calendars, and more. Give us a detailed description, or use topic research to find options. You can even buy gifts — Amazon products or gift cards — delivered to people on the street.

Our purchase fee is 20% of the vendor total, and never more than $6.00 per item. We do not mark up vendor prices — you pay what the vendor charges, plus our fee for handling the order.

Expect Amazon's sales tax (around 8% of the order total) and their current shipping fee ($6.99). Amazon usually offers free shipping on Amazon-fulfilled orders over $35 — we pass that savings on to you. Prices and availability are controlled by vendors and change without notice.

Send the exact ISBN or author and title so we order the exact book you want. Third-party vendors are unreliable, so we only use them if your request says we can. We process orders within 24 hours — there isn't time to mail us an alteration afterward.

Everything ships directly from the vendor to your institutional address. Allow at least 6 weeks for delivery before inquiring. Amazon Customer Service: P.O. Box 81226, Seattle, WA 98108 — though they usually handle service online and may not respond by mail.

We don't offer refunds for institutional rejections or lost shipments — those are beyond our control, so know your institution's publication and property policies. The only refunds are for orders cancelled by a vendor, and refunded orders are charged a fee equal to the Book Purchase fee to cover reprocessing.

If we're notified that you had us ship a purchase to another inmate or a person you shouldn't be in contact with, your account will be immediately closed, and Webb Hunter will cooperate with any investigation.
