Legal Research

Allowing the scales of justice to balance — we offer legal research for inmates to discover codes of law and case law that may not be available in institutional law libraries.

$6.00 per code/case + 25¢ per results page

A critical aspect of the American judicial system is the right to appeal when citizens feel that their conviction or sentence is incorrect. It is also imperative that institutions maintain a safe and professional environment for those entrusted to their care. We do not support frivolous lawsuits, but we believe everyone deserves access to the resources necessary to seek remedies for injustice or negligence.

How to Request Legal Research

Provide the exact code of law or an exact case citation — that precision is what lets us find the right document. Shoot us a kite with your request; we mail results within one business day of receiving it.

Keep Pace With Current Case Law

Institutional law libraries are often outdated or incomplete. We pull from publicly available online legal sources, so you can keep pace with the most current case law while you prepare your filing.

Prefer an Overview? Ask for A.I.

If you're exploring a legal topic rather than chasing one citation, we can use A.I. to summarize general results from multiple online sources — a broader overview compared to standard research from a select few websites.

Not Legal Counsel

No legal advice is offered, available, or implied, and this service does not establish an attorney-client relationship or privilege. Attorney services and legal aid are not available or provided.

Jurisdiction Limits

Not all jurisdictions keep their records online, so we make no guarantee that we will find a specific code or case. The research fee covers the time dedicated to your search, whether we discover results or not.

Requests We've Helped With

Customers have used this service to gather details for a habeas case, research grounds for appeal, and find remedies for issues with treatment or conditions inside their institution.

Costs and Page Limits

$6.00 per code or case, plus 25¢ per black-and-white results page. You can set a maximum page count, and if your account runs out of funds, we send only the pages that can be paid for.

Sources You Can Cite

Results are drawn from publicly available websites that don't charge for access, with source formatting maintained and the original author and URL referenced — provided for educational purposes only.
